Sofia Carrilho Vaz is a specialist in Nuclear Medicine working at the Champalimaud Clinical Centre, Champalimaud Foundation. Her career has been primarily dedicated to oncology, with a special focus on breast cancer. She is currently pursuing a PhD in breast cancer at the Leiden University Medical Center. She is a member of the expert group of the European Commission Initiative on Breast Cancer (ECIBC) and serves on the European Board Examination Committee in Nuclear Medicine of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS). In Portugal, she is President of the General Assembly of the Portuguese Society of Nuclear Medicine. Dr. Carrilho Vaz is also Associate Editor of the British Journal of Radiology and a member of the Editorial Board of Clinical and Translational Imaging. As a member of the Oncology and Theranostics Committee of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM), she was actively involved in organizing the EANM Focus Meeting 6 dedicated to breast cancer, contributed to the development of international guidelines, and participated in several activities of the European School of Multimodality Imaging & Therapy (ESMIT).
